Intro to Backpacking: SOLD OUT

Join us on Saturday February 2nd – 1:30pm to 3:30pm

To learn more about Backpacking. Our goal is to encourage and empower EVERYONE to get outside and move.

If you are interested in learning more about backpacking this is the class for you! If you’ve already been bitten by the hiking bug and you’re ready for the next step or even if you are new to hiking we will teach you what you need to get started backpacking.

What will we be talking about?

  • How to choose a backpack
  • How to pack a backpack
  • Trail food and food prep
  • Water filters
  • Sleeping gear – tent, sleeping bag, sleeping quilt, hammock
  • Shoes and boot choices
  • Socks and why they matter
  • How to build strength and stamina
  • Trail safety
  • Where to backpack in Kansas

The location for this event is pending weather and conditions but plan on somewhere near Topeka or Perry Lake. 

Dirty Girl Adventures, LLC will provide the information listed above. In all hiking events we provide a guide, support on the trail and docent information throughout the event. We will also monitor the weather and conditions to ensure that our event and participants are safe.

What are you paying for? A knowledgeable and informed guide service that includes a leading guide and a sweep guide during the hike. Trail support including: first aid, knowledge of the environment and locale, safety monitoring, pacing, interpretive information on the environment and location.

In case you are wondering about our refund policy – refunds are given up to one week before the date of the event no questions asked. After that, refunds are not given unless there are exceptional circumstances. Dirty Girl Adventures may cancel an event due to weather or conditions. Everyone will receive a refund if that is the reason for the cancellation. We will paddle and hike in cool, rainy or snowy conditions. Cancellation only occurs in severe weather or other dangerous conditions
